The following paper of the Automation and Robotics Laboratory of the Universitat de Lleida, published at the scientific journal Machines in 2024
has been selected for the "Machines Best Paper Award" for Publications in 2024.
The winner of this award will be announced by the end of April 2026.
This best paper award evaluates the following criteria:
• Scientific merit and broad impact;
• Originality of the research objectives and/or the ideas presented;
• Creativity of the study design or uniqueness of the approaches and concepts;
• Clarity of presentation;
• Citations and downloads.
📰 Defining the Consistent Velocity of Omnidirectional Mobile Platforms,
Machines2024, 12, 397. This paper proposes the definition of the consistent velocity of omnidirectional mobile platforms. This velocity is an upper bound to the translational velocity of the mobile platform, which is defined as the minimum of the maximum translational velocities achievable in any angular orientation.
It depends on the mechanical configuration of the omni-wheels of the platform and on the maximum angular velocity allowed by the motors driving the omni-wheels.
It has been found that the consistent velocity does not depend on the relative orientation of the omni-wheels in the mobile platform.

Evaluation and Correction of Systematic Motion Errors in a Compact Three-Wheeled Omnidirectional Platform Based on Servomotors Applied Sciences2025, 15, 10700.
This paper presents the TRIA-BOT omnidirectional mobile platform.
The paper evaluates and corrects systematic odometry errors in the mobile platform equipped with three omni-wheels driven by digital servomotors.
The TRIA-BOT platform is proposed to be used as an educational equipment and as a testbech for control algorithms and trajectory-tracking experiments.
