Darrere del Barcelona Aging coLLaboratory, hi ha el Parc Sanitari Pere Virgili; el Vall d’Hebron Institut de Recerca (VHIR); l’Institut de Robòtica i Informàtica Industrial (CSIC-UPC); la Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC); la Universitat Ramon Llull, amb la Facultat de Ciències de la Salut Blanquerna i l’Institut Borja de Bioètica; la Federació d’Associacions de Gent Gran de Catalunya (Fatec); la Fundació iSocial i tres empreses privades (Grup Efebé, Qida i UniversalDoctor).
Com a primer projecte han proposat un braç robotitzat que subjecta i apropa una cullera a la boca d'una persona. El sistema reconeix la cara de l’usuari i adapta els moviments.

This paper describes the optimization of the PID control of a brushed DC motor (BDCM) with an embedded low-cost magnetic quadrature encoder. This paper demonstrates empirically that the feedback provided by low-cost magnetic encoders produces some inaccuracies and control artifacts that are not usually considered in simulations, proposing a practical optimization approach in order to improve the step overshoot and undershoot controller response.

L'article descriu una prova pilot que s'està fent amb el robot Rose, que es una adaptació Neerlandesa del prototipus de robot TIAGo fabricat per l'empresa Pal-Robotics (ubicada a Barcelona).
El robot entra a les habitacions per comprovar que tothom és al llit i dorm sense problemes.
Segons s'indica a l'article, el robot utilitza una càmera infraroja per revisar l'habitació i avisar en cas de que la porta estigui tancada, si el pacient es troba caigut al terra o si la barana del llit està abaixada.

Es una actualización de la idea del fonógrafo, inventado por Thomas Alva Edison en 1877.
La lectura del sonido se representa mediante una línea láser que avanza por la escultura aunque realmente el sonido está digitalizado aparte.

Elena Rubies ha ganado el segundo premio del "XIX Certamen Universitario Arquímedes" que distingue a los mejores Trabajos Final de Grado (TFG) y Trabajos Final de Máster (TFM) realizados en Universidades Españolas durante el curso 2020/2021.

En total se presentaron 567 trabajos al premio, agrupados en 4 áreas temáticas. De los cuales 25 fueron seleccionados para la fase final del certamen. En esta fase final el TFM de Elena Rubies consiguió el segundo premio en la competida área temática de Ingeniería y Arquitectura.

This paper presents the enhancement of the sense of attention from the face of a human-sized mobile robot during an interaction. The perception of eye-gaze contact has been improved by manually calibrating the gaze of the robot relative to the location of the face of the person interacting with the robot. The sense of attention has been further enhanced by implementing cyclic face explorations with saccades in the gaze and by performing blinking and small movements of the mouth.

3DBio Therapeutics, a biotech company in Queens, said it had for the first time used 3-D printing to make a body part with a patient’s own cells.
The living cells were then mixed with the company’s collagen-based bio-ink. The new ear was printed in a shape that precisely matched the woman’s left ear and will continue to regenerate cartilage tissue, giving it the look and feel of a natural ear.

Brushstrokes, by Studio Daniel Canogar, is a permanent generative installation located at the new Deka building lobby on Lyoner Straße, Frankfurt.
Four webcams strategically placed in the lobby capture the movement of employees and visitors as they walk by the LED screen. Their movements are transformed into linear paint splatters that usually appear in the artwork with bold and bright colors ( video at vimeo ).

Negar que el virus se transmite por el aire es uno de los errores más graves en la historia de la salud pública.

...las mascarillas... un filtro para que no salgan los virus al aire.

Primero, si se puede, ventilación. Si no se llega con la ventilación, entonces filtración, ya sea con filtros HEPA, si el edificio tiene instalación de filtros, o con filtros baratos con un ventilador.

Como decía Lord Kelvin, solo se puede mejorar lo que se mide. Teniendo medidores de CO2 que, por unos cien euros, te miden si estás ventilando bien o mal.

Greater social distance is suggested for people going downstairs or riding descending escalators.

Proper and polite coughing posture is essential to prevent airborne transmission.

It is also critical that a person on an escalator cough or sneeze with the head down toward the ground so that the dispersed droplets (escaping from the blockage of the elbow or the tissue) are entrained into the wake region toward the ground. This may reduce the probability of droplets being inhaled by a person following behind.
